LMC emerged as the perfect fit for my academic journey as they offer a program that seamlessly transitioned me from my functional skills studies into an AAT Acounting qualification. The knowledge I gain from studying this course is very valuable as it allows me to build a strong foundation of knowledge as well as handling my practical skills.

Studying these courses allows Alemayehu to build a strong skill set which he can carry into his future career.
In my accounting qualification I gain proficiency in accounting principles, bookeeping practices and financial analysis methods. With functional skills I am improving my communication and critical thinking which are valuable skills to have.
Alemayehu is close to finishing his Functional Skills English Level 2 and his AAT Accounting Level 3 which are going to be great accomplishments for him, when asked what he would say to someone thinking of doing these courses, Alemayehu said:
I would first say identify the areas you are intersted in to ensure the course is the right option for you, explore all your options and then apply. Once you apply for the course College assists you with anything you need allowing a seamless process. After this course I will join the employment market and find the best job for me, I hope to continue my studies throughout my career too.
The course gives people experiences of business in many forms which can be used in a huge variety of possible future careers – past students have gone on to work in sectors as diverse as fashion, charities, social media, nuclear energy, defence manufacturing and the public sector.
It’s really difficult to state just one thing I love about working at Lancaster & Morecambe College because there are so many! I really wanted to work here because the college has a fantastic reputation. I love introducing new ways of working and keeping up with relevant trends to improve the course, and I really enjoy the supportive environment that we create for our students.
Teaching is my favourite part of the role, I love being able to help people reach that lightbulb moment in class! I also enjoy being able to inspire the next generation of Residential workers.
