It was a no brainer for me, the course gave me the opportunity to focus directly on a career I wanted to pursue, as well as play football every day competing at a very high standard.
Daniel Thornton originally planned on progressing to Sixth Form after taking his GCSEs however, after hearing about our Sport Level 3 offering, he quickly changed his mind:
It was a no brainer for me, the course gave me the opportunity to focus directly on a career I wanted to pursue, as well as play football every day competing at a very high standard.
Studying Sport allowed him to join the Football Academy which meant he had the opportunity to undergo football training every day whilst also completing his course modules. In addition to this, the course allowed him to meet people from across the globe when he attended the department’s international football trip to Alicante.
Daniel also explained how the Sport Level 3 course helped him prepare for his university studies:
The modules undertaken at LMC really helped me develop the relevant skills required for my university course. The course isn’t just about playing sport, you study theory modules such as Sports Coaching, Anatomy and Physiology which all help equip you with the understanding of sport at a higher level.
Daniel is now in his final year at Edge Hill University studying Sports Coaching:
I’m now in my final year of my Undergraduate degree and am looking to complete a Master’s degree in Performance Analysis. I have been offered places on two Master’s courses for next year which I see as a massive accomplishment. Before LMC I would never have thought I would get into university, never mind receiving Master’s offers.
When asked what advice he would give to someone considering studying Sport Level 3 at LMC, Daniel said:
You should go for it. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the knowledge which the course provided me. You also get the amazing opportunity to train every day and gain an insight on living the life of a footballer.
