The business studies course had a wide range of job roles that I could go into. As I was unsure what I wanted to do, this course gave me many different options from accountancy to marketing.
After finishing high school in 2019, Emily was unsure on what steps to take next. Whilst in school, she enjoyed taking part in her business classes the most and decided that this is a route she could follow to further her studies in College and started the Business and Enterprise Level 3 course here at LMC.
I chose to study Business Studies Level 3 because I wanted to pursue a career in the digital marketing industry. The business studies course had a wide range of job roles that I could go into. As I was unsure what I wanted to do this course gave me many different options from accountancy to marketing.
During her time at college, Emily enjoyed all the group activities she got the chance to take part in.
These were good because it allowed me to get to know people in my class better and work with people I wouldn’t normally work with. It also allowed me to come out of my shell and be more confident.
Emily also got to experience lots of external trips as part of her course, whether it be something fun or visiting Universities, and found it rewarding after all the hard work she put in. Emily had never thought about University as an option before heading out on these trips so it really opened her eyes to the possibilities after her course.
I’m currently an apprentice at Perfect Parks which is a company based in the leisure and holiday park industry. I am completing a digital marketing level 3 course.
Emily is now involved in Facebook campaigns, email campaigns, social media posting, graphic creation, blog writing, search engine optimisation, marketing reports and so much more. As a valued member of the team, Emily's background with the Business Studies Level 3 course gave her the confidence and skills level needed to thrive in her role.
During my time at LMC I learned communication skills, time management, organisation skills, computer skills, presentation skills and the skill to work with others.
As well as the skills listed above, Emily was asked how the course at LMC helps her benefit professionally.
The course gave me a qualification that allowed me to get my job and then progress into doing an apprenticeship. At the end of my apprenticeship, I will then receive another qualification. Without doing my college course I wouldn’t be able to do this apprenticeship.
Emily says her biggest accomplishment since leaving College has been her apprenticeship, which she is about to complete. This will allow her to pursue a career in something she is passionate about and something she really enjoys.
If you are thinking about doing the course, you should go ahead and do it. It has so many benefits such as the skills you learn, the trips, and the qualification you get from it.
It’s really difficult to state just one thing I love about working at Lancaster & Morecambe College because there are so many! I really wanted to work here because the college has a fantastic reputation. I love introducing new ways of working and keeping up with relevant trends to improve the course, and I really enjoy the supportive environment that we create for our students.
Teaching is my favourite part of the role, I love being able to help people reach that lightbulb moment in class! I also enjoy being able to inspire the next generation of Residential workers.
I enjoy being part of the team and thinking of new ways to support local businesses in realising their potential. Watching learners transition from a one-day course to gaining qualifications motivates me to continue teaching at LMC.
