Distance Learning was different because I could learn at my own pace, although there are deadlines, the course gives you more than enough time to complete your units, and the learner section is very in depth and easy to follow.
Faye Lambert decided to study a range of Distance Learning courses after her workplace closed due to the UK lockdown and she, like millions of others, was furloughed.
Realising that she needed to enhance her knowledge in the retail industry’s business strategies to climb the career ladder, Faye enrolled on to her first Distance Learning course; Level 2 Principles of Business Administration.
“Distance Learning was different because I could learn at my own pace, although there are deadlines, the course gives you more than enough time to complete your units, and the learner section is very in depth and easy to follow.”
Once Faye had completed her course, she undertook a Level 2 Principles of Customer Service course via distance learning, and then commenced a third Level 2 course in Principles of Team Leading in order to upskill even further and put her in good stead within the business.
Not only have the courses taught Faye about customer service and business, but she has also noticed an improvement in her vocabulary and awareness of her work. Faye explains that she now feels confident to discuss her work practice with others and understands the terminology which is used in the workplace.
Although Distance Learning would seem like a challenge to some, Faye has found that having regular contact with her tutor, Amy at LMC, helped hugely and she never feels like she is studying alone;
“After submitting your units, I receive feedback on each question from my tutor which really helped me understand what I’d done well and what I’d needed to revisit.
If you don’t understand something, then you can always email your tutor for advice… You’re never on your own!”
Amy has also seen a huge difference in Faye’s confidence since teaching her on the course and is excited to see where these new skills will take her. Amy said:
“Supporting Faye throughout her Distance Learning journey has allowed me to get to know her and provide advice and guidance on how to develop those skills even further. I’ve seen Faye being able to apply her new knowledge to her workplace which really solidifies that these courses are benefiting her real work life.”
