My experience with resitting in college couldn’t have gone better, and if there is anyone who may have to resit at LMC in the future here are my tips:
Hope passed her GCSE English qualification with us in November 2023, achieving a grade 6! She feels that she owes credit to the teaching and support she received here at Lancaster & Morecambe College.
Lancaster and Morecambe College was there to support Hope every step of the way, offering support and guidance where needed, something that Hope feels helped her achieve the grade 6, alongisde her dedication and hard work.
The support I recieved from LMC was perfect! My English tutor Fiona was always there to help me no matter the situation, whether it was English related or not. In every lesson I felt welcome and that I could be myself and ask for help without feeling embarrased.
When Hope received her grade she felt very proud, and it has helped her to understand how important her English qualification is in all areas. Now that she has passed, Hope can go on to pursue her dream career in the Royal Navy, something that wouldn't have been possible without the chance to resit.
I felt so proud when I recieved my grades! I also felt I owed credit to my English Tutor Fiona. I definitely wouldn't have acheived the grade I got without her teaching and guidance.
When asked how studying in College was different from studying in highschool, Hope said:
From my experience, College is a lot more relaxed which helped me get into a 'ready to learn' mood. The tutors are so friendly and speak to you on the same level, so there isn't that sense of your stereoptypical hierarchy that you might find in highschool. This made me feel comfortable in lessons and I even enjoyed resitting the subject!
For anyone who may have to re-sit their exams at LMC, Hope has some great tips for you!
My experience with resitting in College couldn’t have gone better, and if there is anyone else who may have to resit at LMC in the future here are my tips:
- If you give 100%, so will your tutors
- Make the most of the lessons as they go very quickly leading up to the exam
- Don’t be scared! The tutors are tutors for a reason and they are amazing at their jobs
My favourite part of my job is helping people achieve their GCSE English, a key qualification which will open doors for them in the future.
I love working with people of all ages and backgrounds and seeing them make progress and achieve their qualifications, sometimes in “small” ways, such as remembering how to do a written multiplication.
