My tutors at College were always ready to help answer my questions, and I found their lessons interesting and relevant. My two main tutors were Chris and Kane and thanks to their help I was able to apply to university and was offered a place. Chris has taught me a huge amount about football. If you have any questions regarding football and coaching, he is the person with all answers, as he has previously worked with a professional football club before becoming a tutor at College, and he has taught me how coaching works at the highest level.
Ihor Galona joined Lancaster & Morecambe College in 2022, enrolling onto the Football Studies Level 3 course. This course is suitable for those who value the importance of academic study and training, and offers an opportunity to gain a recognised qualification whilst working on your footballing ability, strength and conditioning, as well as your football ambitions, which is why Ihor decided to study with us.
I chose to study at Lancaster & Morecambe College because there was a specialised course in football and also due to the skilled tutors. Each of my tutors had a lot of experience in training people in football. They taught me how football works, not only in theory, but also in practice.
Studying the Football Studies course gives you access to industry-standard equipment and workspaces to get you prepared for the world of work, as well as giving you knowledge and skills to help you in your future career. On the coourse you will be involved in practical sport, football coaching and physical fitness classes, during which you will develop your practical knowledge and skills as a footballer and coach, as well as develop your own personal fitness and understanding of training.
During the course, I liked having the opportunity to use professional technology during our games, such as GPS trackers, VEO cameras, BlazePods and much more. These gadgets are used in professional football games, so it was a great to have the opportunity to use them in my studies.
Ihor enjoyed working with his course tutors, Chris and Kane, as all tutors at LMC have industry skills and experience that they can pass on to their students. Chris was previously a professional football coach and now has the opportunity to pass this experience on to his students.

Most of what I know, I learned thanks to him. After studying at LMC, Ihor felt confident to go into the working world, as well as apply to university. He secured a place at UCLan, where he is going to continue his studies.
I applied to study at university, and I received a positive response, so will continue my studies at UCLan. After graduating from college, I was offered two jobs, one as a coach at Westmorland CFA Emerging Talent Centre, and the other as a coach at the Sir Tom Finney Preston Soccer Centre. I've already started working in both places and I'm grateful to the College for providing me with the knowledge and opportunity to be where I am today.
When asked what he would say to someone thinking of studying Football Studies at LMC, Ihor said:
Absolutely go for it! Each tutor is a master of their own craft and they have shaped the person I am today.
