I would recommend doing a hairdressing course at LMC, I learnt so many skills over the time I attended that I can carry through my career as a hair stylist.
Izzy chose to study Hairdressing at Lancaster & Morecambe College because she described it as offering a great learning environment within The Salon at the College.
After starting at LMC in 2019, throughout the course, Izzy learnt the key skills which encouraged her to become more confident in what she was doing, and also developed a more professional approach to hairdressing. One of the most important skills she learnt was how to deal with working under pressure, which is a huge factor within the hairdressing industry.
The best parts about my course at LMC was definitely the practical salon training, as I really enjoyed working on clients in The Salon at College.
Finishing her course in early 2022 at Prestige Hairdressing Salon, Izzy explains that continually uses all the skills she learnt at LMC in the role as a Hair Stylist. Izzy described her biggest accomplishment since leaving LMC is that she has developed as a stylist and is continuing to learn new techniques each month.
When asked what advice she would give someone considering applying for Hairdressing Apprenticeship course at LMC, Izzy said:

The most satisfying part of my job role is inspiring students to have the confidence to become beauty therapists and work in their dream careers.
My favourite part of my role is being able to recall my industry knowledge and then passing it onto my students. The knowledge I have from working in the industry gives the students a better understanding of real life situations and how to transfer their skills into future careers.
Try to achieve the best grades you can. As a qualified Carpenter or Joiner, you will have the opportunity to work anywhere in the world.
Welding particularly is like lego for adults – its great fun making things. Whereas Engineering will teach you why things are made the way they are and a combination of both will give you the skills to make almost anything you can think of! Why not give it a go!
My role is to work alongside the tutors and students to ensure the work placements are secured, completed and recorded in line with procedural requirements. This is a simple description, as there is a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure this happens! I see good communication, administration, attention to detail and patience as key attributes of the role.
My favourite part of working at Lancaster & Morecambe college is watching students progress and supporting them with their learning. I also love knowing they are learning within a hairdressing environment and being able to see them develop their skills and knowledge in hairdressing.
