100% do it, there are many knowledgeable tutors at LMC who are very supportive, there to help you thrive and achieve what you want from the course! It’s also a good opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
Neve started her hairdressing journey at Lancaster & Morecambe College in 2018. She chose to study at LMC because she had known many people who had studied at the College and successfully completed the Hairdressing Level 2 course who had progressed into great jobs in the industry. Neve is a Hair Stylist at Prestige, Lancaster and has worked there for 3 years now.
The Hairdressing Apprenticeship course at Lancaster & Morecambe College greatly improved my confidence, allowing me to deal with clients of all ages!
The best bits of the Hairdressing Apprenticeship at Lancaster & Morecambe College are getting involved with the other students on the course by helping each other in the practical lessons in The Salon, and being able to work on actual clients hair is a great help in developing your skills.
I especially enjoyed working with Claire my Training Co-Ordinator, as she was very enthusiastic and really helpful when it came to the End Point Assessment of my Apprenticeship.
Starting at LMC with no confidence, Neve has since thrived on the Hairdressing Apprenticeship, and is now pleased to say that her biggest accomplishment since leaving LMC is having a full column of returning clients. Although this number of clients can challenging, Neve appreciates that not one client is the same.
“I’m proud knowing I started my Hairdressing Apprenticeship with no confidence and have come a long way in developing my skills within the hairdressing industry.”
When asked what advice she would give to someone considering the Hairdressing Apprenticeship Level 2 course, Neve said:

I love working with such keen and dedicated staff and students. I also like how every day is different because we attract such a wide range of students including year 11 from local high schools aged 16-18 who apply to the full time courses, to adult students who attend the part time courses. It’s nice to work with so many people from all different backgrounds and cultures who share a passion for cooking.
If you want the opportunity to use and develop practical skills, learn about an accessible vocational area, have fun, work hard and deal with the public then this is the course for you. LMC is a great community asset and I think the local district are lucky to have such a modern, flexible and engaging place of education.
I would say come to College, study Beauty Therapy, be pampered, pamper clients, but be prepared to work hard for the qualifications to get far in the industry. It's a very rewarding career to go into, putting smiles on clients faces and giving them a new found confidence.
Whether you're confident that you want to be a plumber/gas engineer, think you want to try your hand at it, or have no idea what you want to do - plumbing or gas work is an excellent asset for anyone to have. They're both great career options, loved by foreign countries if you're looking to travel, or at the very least will save you some money on a plumber in the future no matter what you end up doing!
Teaching is my favourite part of the role, I love being able to help people reach that lightbulb moment in class! I also enjoy being able to inspire the next generation of Residential workers.
My favourite part of my job is helping people achieve their GCSE English, a key qualification which will open doors for them in the future.
