My advice to anyone thinking of studying GCSE Maths or GCSE Biology would be to go for it! No matter your situation the College is always there to help and it makes it an easy environment to learn in.
Tanya decided to study GCSE biology and GCSE maths here at Lancaster & Morecambe College to help her on her way to becoming a midwife.
Tanya initially started at LMC through our distance learning courses, which are free online courses which allow you to fit your learning around other commitments such as work and/or home life. The options available at LMC fit perfectly for Tanya as a single mum.
Choosing to study at LMC was the best choice for me, especially as a single mum. The fact the College is local to me made it much more manageable as I wasn't far from home. I am aiming to study midwifery, I would not be able to do that without completing these courses.
The courses have provided Tanya with the knowledge she needs to continue her studies onto the Access to HE course which will then allow her to attend university and gain the relevant qualifications to be a midwife.
I love that I have gained all this knowledge as I know it is going to help me with my future career. Personally, I have met some wonderful people along the way at LMC, from staff to my fellow students. I have learned so much from everyone I've met.
As well as gaining the technical knowledge required to pass the exams, Tanya has also gained soft skills such as time management and communication. The courses are designed so you will have all the skills needed for further study and future employment.
Time management has always been something I struggled with and through these courses I have been able to improve this skill. I have also learnt how to effectively work within a group and adapt to a busy environment.
After the course Tanya hopes to gain a place on the Access to HE course to aid her journey into midwifery.
My biggest accomplishment so far at College has been actually sticking to the course! The friendly and warm environment at College makes it a nice place to be.
