This is an intensive one year Full Time course which aims to increase your knowledge and skills in different aspects of Art & Design. It is also a pathway to enable you to go on and study Art & Design at degree or HND level at leading universities for Art & Design throughout the UK. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the creative industries and progression to higher education or who are progressing from relevant Level 3 qualifications.
The course provides students with experience in a variety of Art & Design disciplines. It is an ideal opportunity to explore a broad spectrum of Art & Design specialisms, whilst building a strong and diverse portfolio. The emphasis of the course is on experimentation and challenging preconceptions.
On completion of the course students will be awarded an Art & Design UAL Foundation Diploma Level 3/4.

During the first term students are introduced to a range of different practical areas whilst also developing core areas such as drawing and researching skills. In the second term students are asked to choose a specialist area and are then focussed in this area for the rest of the course.The course is timetabled 3 days a week with the expectation that students will complete an additional 2 days of independent study a week on top of this.
You will be continuously assessed using a range of methods including coursework, projects and assignments, though primarily through portfolio presentation.
This course enables you to go on and study Art & Design at degree or HND level at leading universities throughout the UK. You will receive support and guidance to allow you to make informed decisions about your progression. This will be accompanied by individual support to make sure any application you choose to make is as strong as it can be including support with statement writing, interview practice and portfolio preparation.

To study this course you must:
Show enthusiasm for the subject area
Have evidence of good skills in practical subjects
Show a commitment to study e.g. demonstrate good attendance, punctuality and behaviour
Be able to work independently
You must also an A Level in Art and/or Design at grade A*-C/9-4 and a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C/9-4 including English and Maths OR an Art & Design Level 3 Extended Diploma and GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or higher.
