This 2D Computer Aided Design Level 2 Award will equip you with the basic understanding and
principles of 2D drawing environment, in terms of hardware, software and physical surroundings. It will explore the typical composition of a CAD system and health and safety matters that are associated with safe working practices.
The 2D Computer Aided Design Level 2 Award is for those who wish to gain experience and skills in
the use of computer software as a drawing aid. This course is ideal for those with an interest in interior design, architecture, engineering or even 2D games who wish to use AutoCAD software.
Areas covered include:
Hardware • Software • Legislation and safe working practices • Features of 2D CAD interface • Editing • Modify CAD settings • Using drawing tools • Dimension commands • Plotting and printing
To achieve the qualification you will need to pass the assessment set by City and Guilds.
This 18-week course will cover 6 key areas assessed by assignment: -
Be able to use a CAD workstation safely
Be able to use key components in 2D CAD software
Be able to create lines and shapes relative to co-ordinate system
Be able to use text, hatch and simple dimensioning routines
Be able to modify existing drawings
Be able to output a 2D drawing layout
All units in these qualifications are assessed by assignments set by City & Guilds, internally marked by centres and externally verified. These assignments are graded Pass, Merit and Distinction. Each assignment consists of practical tasks and short-answer questions.
On successful completion of the course and assignment the candidate will receive a Level 2 Award in Unit 202 Using 2D Computer Aided Design Software.
The classes are one evening a week for 18 weeks.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course
This course costs £227.00, including exam fees.
You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
