This Level 2 qualification in Accounting is ideal for anyone wishing to study accountancy and finance alongside a range of complementary business and personal skills transferable to any sector.
The purpose of this course is to offer the foundation accounting knowledge needed to progress to employment or further study in accountancy and finance.
Learners will spend one day a week in College, usually on a Wednesday from 9am-4pm, with flexibility available if required. Home study will also be required, and although learners will have varying needs and abilities, we would recommend an additional 1-3 hours of independent learning a week.
On this course there are 4 units, all assessed individually throughout the year:
Introduction to Bookkeeping
Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
Principles of Costing
The Business Environment

You might also want to consider taking this course as an Apprenticeship. The course content would remain the same, with the same attendance requirements, but you would also be supported in the workplace by both your employer and an assessor from College.

On completion of this qualification you could progress onto an Accountancy-related role, such as:
Accounts Administrator
Accounts Assistant
Purchase/Sales Ledger Clerk
Trainee Accounting Technician
Trainee Finance Assistant.
Additionally, you may also like to progress on to the Accounting (AAT) Level 3 Advanced Diploma.
This qualification has no formal entry requirements, however having a good standard of maths and English will be key to success on this course. Accountants are the heart of the business, so having great communication skills will also be important for communicating information clearly to different stakeholders.
This course costs £995.00, including exam fees.
You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
