The Level 1 Pathway to Art and Design course at Lancaster & Morecambe College provides an exciting and comprehensive introduction to the diverse world of art and design. This course is designed for aspiring creatives who want to explore a broad range of artistic disciplines, including mixed media, drawing, painting, and design techniques.
You will engage with artistic concepts such as colour theory, composition, texture, and form, while also gaining hands-on experience with various tools and materials. The curriculum is structured around project-based learning, where you will respond to creative briefs that challenge your critically thinking, enable you to experiment and develop your unique artistic skills.
Throughout the programme you will build a portfolio of work showcasing your mixed media experiments, detailed sketches, and finished pieces which will serve as a strong foundation for further study. The course also focuses on building essential skills such as problem-solving, research, and presentation, all of which are valuable for future academic and professional opportunities.
Work related experience is an essential part of the curriculum allowing you to apply the knowledge you have gained in class and develop a range of creative skills for the industry.
It is a mandatory element of the course and you are required to complete a number of hours in a work placement environment.
