The course is aimed at students who might require a GCSE in Science for further study at universities and progression. It is also suitable for anyone with an interest in biology and the natural world. This is a part-time course timetabled 1 day a week for 1 year.
You will work towards an AQA GCSE in Biology which is assessed by 2 externally set and marked exams.
The course will cover the following topics:
Cell biology
Organisation
Infection and response
Bioenergetics
Homeostasis and response
Inheritance, variation and evolution
Ecology
Key ideas
The course will be a mix of theory and practical lab work. There will be some home study required which will include revision and preparation for the end of year exams.
Successful completion of an English and maths assessment prior to interview.
This course costs £343.25, including exam fees.
You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
