This course is for students who wish to develop basic carpentry and joinery skills with a view to progression within the construction industry.
The course is suitable for school leavers who would like a career in the construction industry and wish to progress onto Level 2.
You will study the following subjects:
Safe working practices
Communication
Construction technology
Woodworking joints
Maintain and use hand tools
Prepare and use power tools
All LMC students will receive tutorial support throughout your course.
The course is suitable for school leavers who would like a career in the construction industry and wish to progress onto Level 2. The course can lead on to Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery or a Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship.
3 GCSEs at grade G/1 or higher PLUS grade F/2 or higher in English & maths.
Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English & maths qualifications or GCSE English & maths if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study English &/or mathsGCSE.
Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of English & maths Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant English & maths qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
