The Creative Digital Media Production HNC develops students’ practical skills and project management in preparation for a career in the creative media industry or progression to further study.
Participants will use professional standard equipment and software to produce a range of media projects, such as: promotional videos, documentaries, web content, computer games and other media-rich applications in a challenging production environment. The course emphasises practical studio production skills and developing a creative and professional approach to media production.
The course is for school (A-Level)/college graduates and adults looking to advance their knowledge of media production techniques with the aim of working in the industry. While on programme, students will build up a sizeable portfolio of creative media projects, working individually and as part of a team.
While on the course you will complete a variety of projects that will allow you to understand the discipline of working to and researching design briefs within digital and interactive media environments. These may include:
Exploring a range of animation techniques for various media channels
Producing digital 3D models suitable for animation, video and gaming outcomes.
You will conceptualise, storyboard, recce, shoot and edit a range of video projects in various forms and contexts developing your film production skills.
You will also have the opportunity to develop concepts and scripts for games and 3D environments.
You will have access to industry standard equipment allowing for the production of a portfolio demonstrating a wide range of industry relevant skills and justification/written understanding.
All LMC students receive tutorial support.
Successful students may progress onto HND and to University to top up to a full honours degree, go into employment in the media industry or operate freelance.
You will need:
64 UCAS Points (new tariff) or 160 points (legacy tariff)
GCSE maths and English at grade C/4 or higher
You will also need enthusiasm for the subject with a commitment to study and show skills in practical subjects.
