The Level 1 and 2 Pathway to Digital Technology courses are designed to introduce you to a range of digital media disciplines, including graphic design and animation.

The Pathway to Digital Technology course is designed to support students with additional learning requirements in order to progress. The classes are smaller and enriched with practical elements to best engage the learners to achieve a qualification in Digital Technology. The qualification offers an overview of the Digital Technology industries, including both practical and theoretical elements and assessments.

Pathway programmes at LMC meet the needs of a broad range of learners, including those who may have disengaged from learning in the past or not achieved their full potential. This course offers learners the opportunity to achieve their best outcomes.

Course Overview

Throughout the course, you will engage with industry-standard software such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Animate to create vector graphics and animations from concept to completion. Working from creative industry project briefs, assignments are managed and submitted via Microsoft Teams, simulating real-world professional environments. The curriculum emphasises developing practical skills and contextual knowledge through structured project briefs while challenging you across various media scopes.

By the end of the course, you will have acquired a range of industry-standard graphic design and animation software techniques, preparing you for further education or entry-level positions within the creative industries

Industry Links

Work related experience is an essential part of the curriculum allowing students to apply the knowledge they have gained in class and develop a range of creative skills for the industry.

It is a mandatory element of the course and students are required to complete a number of hours in a work placement environment.

Support is available from our Work Placement Co-ordinator but students are required to find and contact potential employers independently.

This course can lead to further training on a Full Time Level 1 course at LMC such as:

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required for this course but it is recommended that you have the following skills:

  • Enthusiasm for the subject/area

  • Evidence of good skills in practical subjects

  • Enjoy working with people

  • Commitment to study (attendance, punctuality & behaviour)

  • Proven interest in (vocational area Creative Industries, Graphics, illustration and animation)
