An Apprenticeship is a perfect choice if you want to continue your studies and develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours in a specific industry, while also earning a salary in full-time employment; kickstarting your long-term career path.
This course is completed using continuous assessment resulting in a portfolio of 23 mandatory units and a longitudinal study. Workplace observations also take place to assess the necessary skills, knowledge and behavious to meet the criteria and standards related to this qualification. On completion of portfolio, you will undertake an End Point Assessment (EPA).
As an apprentice you will be working for 30 hours a week and will be completing 20% off the job training with the assistance of your employer. You are not expected to undertake any coursework at home, although there may be occasions whereby you do this.
We expect most apprentices on the Level 3 programme to complete their course in approximately 12 -18 months plus an extra 3 months to complete End Point Assessment. Therefore, duration of the programme will range from 15 Months – 21 Months inclusive of EPA.
On completion of this course, you will receive a Level 3 Diploma in the Early Years Workforce certificate alongside an overall certificate with your achieved grades.
On this course you will learn how to:
Plans and supervises child initiated and adult led activities which are based around the needs of each individual child.
Supports children to develop numeracy and language skills through games and play.
Has key person responsibility to help ensure each child feels safe and secure.
Observes each child and shapes their learning experience to reflect their observations.
Meets the care needs of the individual child such as feeding, changing nappies and administration of medicine.
Works in partnership with other colleagues, parents and/or carers or other professionals to meet the individual needs of each child.
The End Point Assessment (EPA)requires evidence of Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (RQF) or Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) certificate to meet EYFS requirements. In addition, the EPA will require the submission of 10/12 pieces of evidence from the learner’s portfolio, completion of a multiple-choice question test and a professional discussion with an independent end point assessor to determine the overall grade. End grades include fail, pass and distinction.

To study this Apprenticeship, you must:
Have 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher including English and Maths
Have the Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (RQF) or Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification to meet EYFS requirements
Complete a satisfactory DBS check and provide the result
Relevant work experience will also be considered. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
