This course gives the learner a good introduction to both theoretical and practical aspects of electrical installation and is suitable for school leavers and adults wishing to become involved in the electrical industry and associated disciplines.
Electricians have exciting opportunities of work varying from domestic settings to industrial environments and so you are required to actively solve problems on this course; ideal for someone who wants to pursue a hands-on career.
This course is facilitated in partnership with JTL.
You will study the following:
Cables and accessories.
The National Grid.
Trunking, tray and conduit systems.
The construction industry.
Installing wiring systems & enclosures.
Health and safety.
Sustainability in domestic dwellings.
Electrical science and technology.
Circuit types
All LMC students will receive tutorial support and take a programme of Functional Skills including English & Maths.
LMC has guest speakers along with joint events for all students. There is also an excellent opportunity to take part in National Citizen Service (NCS) which gives learners opportunities for bonding and stepping outside of their comfort zones.
Completion of this course can lead to the Level 3 Installation/Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship or progression onto the Full Time Level 3 Electrical Installation course. There are a variety of exciting roles within the Electrical industry, such as:

Electrical Contract Work
Electrical Engineering Technician
Auto Electrician

4 GCSEs at grade C/4-5 or higher including English & Maths OR a Level 1 related qualification PLUS grade C/4-5 or higher in Maths.
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional Skills English & Maths qualifications or GCSE English & Maths if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects.
If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study English &/or Maths GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of English & Maths Functional Skills.
