This qualification aims to provide you with a nationally recognised English qualification, as well as the English skills needed to function at home, in work and life. The course is suitable for those who have not studied English recently or may need to equip themselves with the basics.
Delivered in a flexible format that fits around your existing commitments, you will engage in individual study and tutor-taught workshops, where regular attendance required.
With regular attendance and work completed outside of the classroom, it is estimated that you can complete the course in 12 – 15 weeks. On completion of the course you will gain a Functional Skills Level 1 English qualification.
During the course you will cover reading comprehension, writing and speaking, listening and communicating.
Topics include:
Reading: How texts present ideas and reading for details
Writing: Structure and planning; language and format; grammar, punctuation and spelling
Speaking and Listening: Participating in formal and informal discussions
