This course is for anyone interested in pursuing a career in criminology, policing, forensic science, forensic psychology and criminal investigation.

On this full time course you will be in College for 3 days a week. On completion of this course you will gain a Level 3 National Foundation in Forensic Investigation after completion of the first year, and Level 3 Extended Diploma in Forensic and Criminal Investigation on completing the second year.

Course Overview

Whilst studying Forensic Science Level 3 you will study a variety of topics that will strengthen your knowledge in the Forensics field. These topics may include:

  • Principles and applications of science

  • Practical scientific procedures and techniques

  • Science investigation skills

  • Forensic investigation skills

  • Applications of criminology

  • Crimincal investigation procedures in practice

  • Applications of Criminal and forensic physchology

The course will also cover a number of specialist subjects, these subjects may include:

  • Physiology of human body systems

  • Microbiology

  • Environmental forensics

  • Practical chemical analysis

Progression Routes

After completion of this course the progression oportunities could be to go on and study further with HE, studying forensic science, criminal investigation or forensic psychology for example.

Entry Requirements

To enrol onto this course you will be expected a have a minimum of 5 GCSE's grade 4 and above to include maths, English and science.

You will also be required to have:

  • A proven interest in the vocational area.

  • An ability to work independently and to set deadlines.

  • A commitment to study which will include excellent attendance, punctuality and behaviour record.
