This course offers an introduction to the exciting and prosperous careers available in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy. You will gain knowledge and learn new skills in a variety of basic Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy services.
On completion of this course you will receive a City and Guilds Level 1 Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair & Beauty Sector.

All students aged 16-19 are also required to study functional Maths & English qualifications or GCSE Maths & English if not already awarded a GCSE grade at C/4 or higher in these subjects. Students who are 19 and over are strongly encouraged to take relevant English and Maths qualifications to support progression to further or higher education, training or employment.
You will be assessed continuously throughout your course using a range of methods including: assignments, coursework, practical performance and portfolio presentation.
You will study at College for 3 days a week with a typical week consisting of practical and theory along with Maths & English depending on your requirements. You will also be expected to undertake regular home study on this course.
Possible trips available on this course include visits to the Blackpool Hair Show and Professional Beauty in Manchester.
You will also have the opportunity to pay for sessions on LVL lashes and spray tanning.
You will be required to undertake a two week work placement which is a compulsory element of this course, this is an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into the real working environment and can lead to full time employment or an Apprenticeship.
Progression opportunities within College include: Hairdressing Level 2, Beauty Therapy Level 2, Media Make-up Level 2 or an Apprenticeship in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy.
