Hospitality Supervisors work across a wide variety of businesses including bars, restaurants, cafés, conference centres, banqueting venues, hotels or contract caterers. They provide vital support to management teams and are capable of independently supervising hospitality services and running shifts.
As a Hospitality Supervisor you will typically work under pressure in delivering fantastic customer service, and motivating a team is essential to your role. You will study towards a Level 3 diploma in Hospitality Supervision in your place of work.
Some of the modules covered on this course will include:
Identifing the different leadership styles and supervisory management skills which are effective in the hospitality industry and understanding how to work fairly with individuals that have diverse needs.
Understanding the importance of customer profiles, how to build them and understand how this enables the business to meet their needs profitably and in line with business / brand standards.
Planing, resourcing and organising the team to meet expected levels of customer demand within the business constraints.
Coordinating the team to deliver to customers according to their needs in line with business / brand standards, enhancing their experience where appropriate.
Understanding the basic principles of menu design, layout and presentation; know the specifications of menu items, how to match food and beverages and how to keep up to date with trends in food and beverages.
Identifing the different leadership styles and supervisory management skills which are effective in hospitality businesses.
An experienced advisor from College will visit you at your place of work, at least once a month where you will work your way through a wide range of units. The advisor will observe you in the workplace supervising your colleagues
There are no formal examinations within this course. Students are assessed at the end of each unit approximately once a month, practical assessments are the key components of this course. You will complete a portfolio of work through the workplace to gather evidence.
This is part of the employer led curriculum
On completion of this course you may gain promotion at work or move onto degree level study
You will need to have industry experience and a work placement.

You’re over 19 and do not already have a full Level 3 qualification or higher
You have not already been funded for a course using Free Courses for Jobs offer, except for 1 short course via the offer. If you don’t meet the eligibility criteria for the offer, all courses are available to be funded via the Advanced Learner Loan.
You have a full Level 3 qualification, and you earn below the annual National Living Wage
You have a full Level 3 qualification, you’re unemployed and in receipt of benefits
