This qualification is designed for those looking to become professional pastry chefs or for those already in employment who are seeking to progress in their careers, or simply for those individuals who enjoy this area of cookery as a hobby.

This course will allow you to improve your skills for home baking or to give you the skills for a successful career as a pastry chef, while also improving your overall culinary ability.

Course Overview

This qualification is a fantastic introduction to the basics of patisserie and confectionary and covers some of the key skills to take your basic cakes, bakes and treats to the next level.

Pastry Chefs are always in demand in the catering industry from working in top restaurants, creating breads, pastries and desserts in a catering business, or making the delicate delights of the classic patisserie. Whilst the course incorporates the necessary theory required, it is designed to maximize the amount of practical training and hands-on practice in the kitchen

Some of the skills covered on this course include the making of hot and cold desserts, pastry products, biscuits, cakes and sponges, and fermented doughs.

Learners will be assessed through practical assessments and short answer question papers.

Upon course completion, you may choose to continue onto another of our Hospitality & Catering courses, such as:

  • Professional Cookery – Level 3 (Free Courses for Jobs)

  • Introduction to Culinary Skills – Level 1

Entry Requirements

To study this course, learners must have a good level of written and spoken English and a passion for the subject.

Course Fees

This course costs £191.50, including exam fees.

You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
