The Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice is suitable to those embarking on a career in Human Resources, or for those already in a support role and looking to progress in their career.

This pragmatic course covers a variety of HR topics including the legal aspects of HR management, analysing and using HR information, resourcing talent, recruitment, and learning development tools and techniques for motivation.

Learners are assessed by reports, presentations, and assignments built on practical work-based scenarios.

Course Overview

To achieve the qualification, students must commit to attend Lancaster & Morecambe College for 4 hours per week (Wednesday, 5pm - 9pm)for 34 weeks. It is recommended to undertake 6 hours of independent study time per week.

The four course units explore how the People Professional can support their organisation to achieve goals through applying knowledge and skills gained during study, to influence and deliver effective people practices.

Business, Culture, and Change in Context

This unit considers the impact of external influences on shaping businesses and the culture within which they operate. It considers the importance of people’s behaviour on organisational culture and its ability to manage change effectively.

Principles of Analytics

This unit looks at how People Professionals make both straightforward and complex choices as they carry out their roles. It focuses on how utilising a diverse range of analytics and evidence helps to ensure effective decision making and in so doing improve working practices and add value to the organisation.

Core Behaviours for People Professionals

This unit introduces the core behaviours for People Professionals, focusing on ethical practice to create value. It considers how certain ways of thinking and acting should be universally consistent, even in new and challenging situations, to promote a sense of wellbeing and inclusivity in the organisation.

Essentials of People Practice

This unit explores a diverse array of specialist subjects essential to a career in People Practice, such as recruitment, talent management, reward, learning, and development. Importantly, this unit enables students to apply their knowledge and skills, building their confidence and ability to practise progressively.

A CIPD qualification is the gateway to a career in Human Resources, recognised by employers as a global standard of excellence for Human Resource Management. Through membership of CIPD, you will have tools and resources to succeed at your fingertips and support you on the path to the professional recognition that you aspire to.

Progression Routes

Upon course completion, learners will hold a CIPD Foundation Membership and may choose to continue onto further study at LMC, including:

  • Business Essentials - Level 3 (Free Courses for Jobs)

  • Coaching & Mentoring - Level 3 (Free Courses for Jobs)

  • Lean Organisation Management Techniques – Level 2

Alternatively, learners may wish to apply for CIPD Associate-level Membership and progress onto Level 5 (Intermediate) or Level 7 (Advanced) CIPD qualifications, which can lead onto management positions such as:

  • HR Manager

  • HR Business Partner

  • Talent Manager

  • Rewards & Benefits Manager

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to this course, learners will be accepted following an interview process in which a real interest in the HR function should be proven.

Course Fees

This course costs £1200.00, including exam fees.

You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
