This qualification aims to give learners knowledge and understanding to work with individuals with learning disabilities or difficulties. They will explore the principles of safeguarding and positive risk taking and gain awareness of the autistic spectrum.
The objectives of this qualification are to prepare learners for employment and to support a role in the workplace where the individual may work or interact with people with learning disabilities.
Distance learning is a great way of learning remotely without being in regular face-to-face contact with a teacher or an assessor. Students have the flexibility to study at home or at work, fitting in their course around other life and work commitments.
The course is designed for any learner working or intending to work in health care settings, to develop their knowledge and understanding. This is primarily for those within healthcare and social care but may also be useful to those working in education or housing support roles.
This qualification consists of 6 mandatory units:
Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities
Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
Principles of positive risk taking for individuals with disabilities
Principles of supporting individuals with a learning disability to access healthcare
Each learner must create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. You will be allocated an assessor who will support you through the learning process and assess your work, providing advice and guidance. You would be expected to complete the programme in 16 weeks.
On completion of this course you will receive a Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities from TQUK.

To study this course you will need to complete a satisfactory initial assessment in literacy skills. It may also be usedul to have achieved a Level 1 qualification prior to study.
