An Apprenticeship is a perfect choice if you want to continue your studies and develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours in a specific industry, while also earning a salary in full-time employment; kickstarting your long-term career path.
This Apprenticeship will provide you with the all the skills you require to start a career within the Property Maintenance industry. You will have the opportunity to learn the underpinning knowledge of optimising property quality and the conditions needed for working in a Construction environment. As a Property Maintenance Operative, you will need to maintain a high level of quality, customer service and satisfaction. By the end of your Apprenticeship you will understand the mechanism of buildings including electrical, plumbing, plant, fire and security systems equipment.
At the end of the course you will receive NVQ Level 2 Certification as a Property Maintenance Operative.
At the start of your Apprenticeship you will be assigned your own Work Place Co-ordinator who will be there for you throughout your Apprenticeship to answer any questions you may have. They will also visit you onsite along with your College tutor to make sure your Apprenticeship journey is a comfortable one.
You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week and be prepared to attend College through day and block release for your essential off the job training. While at LMC you will be taught by time served, qualified tutors who have over 30 years industry experience and still work in industry. Our workshops are up to date allowing you to feel confident and proficient while developing your skills.
You will develop your skills and understanding in many areas of Property Maintenance such as:
Painting
Tiling
Plumbing maintenance and repairs
Electrical testing and repairs
Understanding and maintaining heating
Ventilation and air conditioning plant
Internal and external building fabric maintenance
Security and access systems
You will cover the theoretical aspects of these topics in both the classroom and occasional home study.
There will be regular assessor visits to the workplace to observe your competency in completing certain tasks. At College you will be assessed through written assignments, practical skills tests, observations and review of a portfolio of all training carried out both in College and at your workplace.

During your time at LMC you will also have the opportunity to apply to work abroad for three weeks, where you will be able to develop new ways of working and form new work relationships. This may lead to an opportunity of further work after your Apprenticeship.
Upon course completion you may choose to progress onto one of our Level 3 Apprenticeships such as the Plumbing & Heating Level 3 Apprenticeship, or alternatively, you may decide to progress into further full time work within the Construction industry.

Students must have 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or higher, including Maths and English OR Functional Skills Level 1. Students will take an initial English and Maths assessment to showcase abilities.
