The Site Management Safety Training Scheme – Refresher (SMSTS-R) course is for candidates who have previously passed the full Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course or subsequent refresher course and can provide proof of attendance.
Upon successfully completing the course you will be awarded a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate, otherwise the full course will need to be retaken.
It aims to bring health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The course includes a wide range of topics as suggested below.
Responsibilities for your own safety and the safety of others
Typical construction hazards and how these are controlled
Legal requirements and liabilities
Working at height
Manual handling
Fire prevention
Work equipment
Occupational health
This is a highly interactive course delivered by means of case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual/group presentations. You may need to do some self-study outside of the course. You will be assessed and required to successfully complete a question paper, made up of multiple choice question and short written answer
The cost of this course includes all registration/certification fees and the publications - GE 700 Construction Site Safety
The refresher course is only for candidates who have previously passed the five-day construction Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or subsequent refresher course and hold a valid SMSTS certificate. Candidates must be able to read, write and understand English to a good level. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area.
