This qualification provides you with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. Completion will ensure full competency as a Teaching Assistant.

During this 16-month course, you will study the following units:
Schools and colleges as organisations
Support health and safety in a learning environment
Understand how to safeguard children and young people
Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults
Understand how children and young people develop
Support positive behaviour in children and young people
Support children and young people during learning activities
Support English and Maths skills
Support the use of ICT in the learning environment
Support assessment for learning
Engage in personal and professional development
Support children and young people’s speech, language and communication
Understand how to support bilingual learners
Understand how to support learning of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities
Support children and young people during transitions
Support the role of play, leisure and extracurricular activities for children and young people
Upon course completion you may choose to go on to study a Level 4 qualification in teaching.
To study this course, you must:
Complete a satisfactory DBS check
Enjoy working with other people
Show a commitment to study in regards to attendance, punctuality & behaviour
You must also have 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher including English and Maths
This course costs £2225.00, including exam fees.
You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
