This qualification will provide you with an understanding of the different types of diabetes and how they can occur as well as increasing your knowledge on diabetes diagnosis and initial care. You will develop an awareness of how Type 2 diabetes can be delayed with lifestyle changes and will learn about on-going care and treatment of diabetes to control blood sugar levels.
You will be provided with a dedicated assessor who will support and encourage you throughout your programme.
You will be allocated an assessor who will guide, mentor and support you through the qualification.
The course consists of the following units:
Unit 1: Understand diabetes
Within this unit you will explore the varying functions of glucose and insulin in the blood, the different forms and causes of diabetes, as well as the risk factors associated with each type.
Unit 2: Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes
Here you will study and examine the prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes, paying attention to how the condition can be delayed, or even prevented, through healthy lifestyle changes.
Unit 3: Understand the initial care of diabetes
This unit explores how the condition can be managed and monitored. As well as this, you will consider the mental and physical impact that diabetes diagnosis can have on an individual.
Unit 4: Understand treatment and management of diabetes
Within this unit you will develop an understanding of the ongoing care and treatment recommended to control blood glucose levels and identify how best to prevent and detect complications in people with diabetes.
On completion of this course you will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Care & Management of Diabetes from TQUK.
