This qualification provides learners with a range of underpinning knowledge in areas such as healthy eating, nutritional needs, weight management, eating disorders and food safety in the home environment. The qualification supports the government drive to empower individuals to make healthy choices; a key focus of which is the need to educate and change behaviour on diet and nutrition to reduce the prevalence of obesity.
The course is suitable for learners working in, or intending to work in, healthcare and social care. It will give them an understanding of nutrition and health, to support their role in the workplace.
You will study the following 6 mandatory units:
Explore principles of healthy eating
Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
The principles of weight management
Understanding eating disorders
Principles of food safety for the home environment
Each learner must create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. You will be allocated an assessor who will support you through the learning process and assess your work, providing advice and guidance. You would be expected to complete the programme in 16 weeks.
On completion of this course you will receive a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Nutrition and Health, from TQUK.

This course costs FREE, including exam fees.
You may be eligible for free study if you are 23 or under and this is your first full Level 2 or 3 course. Alternatively, if you are unemployed, receiving an eligible benefit, and taking the course to help you find employment.
