Increased Opportunities for Community Learning at LMC

Posted: 29.06.2023

Having completed a full review of its Adult & Community Education programme, the decision has been taken by Lancaster & Morecambe College to close the Morecambe Learning Centre (MLC) on Euston Road, later this summer.

Charlotte Rawes, Vice Principal Progress & Performance, said

"Morecambe Learning Centre has been an excellent base for our adult learners over the years, but it has also limited our ability to offer workshops and sessions across the wider community.  We can offer a more agile and supported curriculum to adult learners by moving our provision to a range of locations across the district. New projects, such as the national Multiply numeracy programme and UKSPF, will see us increasing our presence across Morecambe, Heysham, Lancaster, Garstang and Carnforth as we work with partner agencies to offer a range of drop-in sessions, workshops and classes for adults at locations across the whole district."

The College will launch its new Adult Course Guide at the Community Open Day on 1st July, with details of a wide range of classes and workshops starting in September 2023.  New courses include; Introduction to Introduction to British Sign Language, Introduction to Sports Coaching, Creative Craft Cake Decorating Level 2. Make-Up Level 2 Certificate and Introduction to Basic Drawing.
