Last night, 27 November 2024, was our Annual Apprenticeship Awards to celebrate the efforts and achievements over the last year of our Apprentices, Advisors, Tutors and local Employers.
It was a cold frosty night but we had a great turn out for an evening of celebrations here on campus. The night started with canapés and drinks in The Lounge before heading over to The Hexagon Student & Learning Centre for the awards ceremony.
Our canapés for the evening were designed, created and cooked by our Hospitality & Catering students and included delicacies such as Smoked Salmon Dill Cream Cheese, Ham Hock, Apricot Sausage Rolls, Sweet Potato Arancini Balls and many more.
Our hosts for the evening were Head of Engagement, Victoria Carter and Training & Development Lead, Daniel Waterhouse.
We started with a look back to see what last year's Rising Star of the Year 2023 had to say about her apprenticeship, before moving onto the first award, Rising Star Award 2024.
The winner of this award was Lauren Coyle with nominees including Maisie Wilder and Alex Spencer.
The next award of the evening was the Outstanding Achievement Award 2024. The Winner of this award was Caitlain Woods with nominees including Colby Paterson and Lauren Cannar.
The third award of the evening was the Sustainability Champion of 2024. This was awarded to Elliott Taylor from Lancaster & Morecambe College for his amazing sustainable efforts during his apprenticeship.
The fourth award of the evening was Progress in Maths Award 2024. The winner of the award was Michelle Hudson with the nominees including Scott Graveson, Grace Clark-Fish and Aidan Williams.
The fifth award of the evening was the Progress in English Award 2024. The winner of this award was Erin Winkley with nominees including Danial Alikhani and Helen Eastwood.
The sixth award of the night was the Skills Development Academy Progress Award 2024. The winner of this award was Emily Metcalfe Barnes from Booksmart Accounting.
The seventh award of the evening was the Staff Special Recognition Award 2024 presented by Lee Lawson from Lancaster Training Services LTD and one of our Govenors. The winner of this award was Grace Parker, who completed her own apprenticeship with Lancaster & Morecambe College and secured full-time employment following that, following her dream career.
The eighth award of the evening was the Employer of the Year Award 2024 which was presented by Graham from Lancaster & Morecambe District Chamber of Commerce. The Winner of this award was the Standfast & Barracks, with nominees including Eikon LTD, Thomas Graham & Sons LTD and Lancaster University, Finance Division.
The ninth award of the evening was the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year Award 2024. The winner of this award was Caleb Briggs, with nominees including Grace Cleaver, Nathan Pearce and Dylan Bannister.
The tenth award of the evening was the Advanced Apprentice of the Year Award 2024. The winner of this award was Alice Sands, with nominees including Michal Gach and Phillip Dunn.
The final award of the evening was the Higher Level Apprentice of the Year Award 2024. The winner of this award was Karen Lynch, with nominees including Carol Cook and Bryony McCauley.
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone that attended from apprentices, to employers, to assessors, family members and friends and a huge congratulations to all nominees and winners of awards.
We would also like to say thank you to Woodcrest Garden Centre for decorating the evening with their lovely flowers and plants in bloom.
