Theatrical & Media Make-up Level 3 students were visited by professional make-up brand, Kryolan, for an Avant Garde & Drag focused masterclass.
In 1945, Kryolan became one of the first cosmetics brands in the world to use their own formulas and recipes to manufacture their own products. Today, Kryolan offer workshops and masterclasses to students wishing to become experts in the make-up industry, featuring sessions on trends, products, techniques, and colours.
During the Avant Garde & Drag workshop at LMC, students were taught by the Kryolen Education Team which is compiled of artists working in the fashion industry. Students learnt step-by-step application techniques using different mediums and experimenting with textures, with the Avant Garde aim of understanding colour.
After being tasked with creating their own Avant Garde inspired look to be judged by the professionals, Ruby McKay, Mollie Goodger, and Amy Lofthouse all received 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes respectively comprised of Kryolan products. However, all students in the workshop came away as winners with developmental feedback from the professionals.
Michelle Alexander, Level 2 & Level 3 Media Make-up tutor, commented:
The students really put to good use the tips gained from top industry experts such as eyebrow blocking and establishing the need for beauty elements within Avant Garde makeup. The students should be really proud of the looks they designed, the comments from the pro artists were overwhelmingly positive, they have very bright futures.
Lancaster & Morecambe College looks forward to welcoming the Kryolen Education Team next year for the annual workshop delivered to Level 2 & 3 Media Make-up students.
