Amy Huntington works in the Apprenticeship Team as a Business Administration Adviser at Lancaster & Morecambe College supporting the students to achieve in their Apprenticeships.
Amy has always had a keen interest in business, in particular the management of businesses and began her career with a Retail Apprenticeship at New Look, before going on to complete a Retail Management Apprenticeship. Amy says that she loved her experiences in retail, but eventually decided it was time to have a change in career and worked in a recruitment office helping people to become job ready.
Amy completed a third Apprenticeship at Lancaster & Morecambe College, in an employment related services and following that went on to complete her training to become an Assessor, and the rest is history! Amy been an Assessor for 9 years and now specialises in the Business Administrator Apprenticeship, having also taught on the full time Business course here at LMC. During her time as an Assessors she has also supported a range of Apprenticeship courses including:-
As a Business Administration Adviser, Amy meets her apprentices once every month in the workplace to see how they’re getting on and to offer any support. She also runs a monthly group session for all of her students to cover the additional elements of the criteria on the Business Administrator Apprenticeship. In these group sessions everyone gets the opportunity to network and discuss their apprenticeships with others who are in the same boat!
When asked what her favourite parts of her role are and working at LMC Amy replied,

We also work closely with our Pastoral Mentors and Apprenticeship Progress Coaches to support our students academically as well as look after their wellbeing too.
When asked what she would you say to someone who was thinking about studying the Business Administrator Apprenticeship course, her reply was;
If you’re looking to study a Business Administration Apprenticeship it is a good foundation to any career, as no matter what job you do it’s highly likely that there will be some element of administration. Whilst on this Apprenticeship you will gain skills which will support you in many careers. Choosing to study Business Administration at LMC is a great choice as the staff are so enthusiastic about what they do and ensure that the apprentices have the best experience.
Behind every great business is a fantastic accountant! AAT qualifications are highly valued and they can really push you to achieve great things in your career. The whole team at LMC are dedicated and excited about giving you the best possible start in your new journey!
I enjoy being part of the team and thinking of new ways to support local businesses in realising their potential. Watching learners transition from a one-day course to gaining qualifications motivates me to continue teaching at LMC.
Industry specific apprenticeships are a great way to learn new skills and knowledge, achieve a recognised qualification and earn a wage. Customer service is the corner stone of every successful business, and courses at LMC will help you identify, improve and introduce these skills successfully.

Teaching is my favourite part of the role, I love being able to help people reach that lightbulb moment in class! I also enjoy being able to inspire the next generation of Residential workers.
The course gives people experiences of business in many forms which can be used in a huge variety of possible future careers – past students have gone on to work in sectors as diverse as fashion, charities, social media, nuclear energy, defence manufacturing and the public sector.
