I enjoy teaching this qualification a lot because all the apprentices show a real passion for the hairdressing industry. They all leave the course with the skills and knowledge to build their own client bases or set up their own businesses within the hair industry. Seeing the learners confidence grow more and more each week is my favourite part of the role.
Danielle started working at LMC in October 2020, previously working at a residential children's home, caring for young adults. She also worked in a hair salon in Lancaster as a self-employed hairdresser for 6 years where she further developed her passion and skills.
When Danielle saw the Hairdressing lecturer’s job role opportunity arise here at LMC, she thought it was the perfect chance for her to combine her 2 career paths, working with young people and sharing her skills in hairdressing.
I really enjoyed supporting the young people in the residential childrens home but Istill had a passion for hairdressing. I knew I still wanted to work with young people, so when I saw this job advertised, applying was the best decision I ever made!
Danielle is responsible for the Hairdressing Apprentices here at Lancaster & Morecambe College, teaching the Level 2 Diploma for Hairdressing Professionals. The students that are taught by Danielle, are given the hairdressing skills, knowledge and customer service skills they need to progress in their work place and into their future careers.

My favourite part of working at Lancaster & Morecambe college is watching students progress and supporting them with their learning. I also love knowing they are learning within a hairdressing environment and being able to see them develop their skills and knowledge in hairdressing.
I love to see the difference between a student starting the course and then when they leave their course. They always gain confidence thanks to their new skills and it's amazing to see them leave with their qualification knowing that I have contributed in helping them achieve it.
In my role as a course tutor I’m responsible for ensuring that my students develop in many areas, and not just Hairdressing. I like to encourage my students to improve their well-being as well as support them with their personal development and learning journey, to gain the knowledge to be successful within their course to achieve the qualifications they need to progress in the industry.
I love working at Lancaster & Morecambe College with such an amazing team that are passionate about delivering outstanding teaching across the departments. The Apprenticeship courses at LMC are well developed programmes that offer students amazing opportunities and experiences, whilst allowing them to earn while they learn as they progress through the Apprenticeship.
