I would say come to College, study Beauty Therapy, be pampered, pamper clients, but be prepared to work hard for the qualifications to get far in the industry. It's a very rewarding career to go into, putting smiles on clients faces and giving them a new found confidence.
Janina gained her beauty therapy qualifications in the summer of 2003 and then started working at Lancaster & Morecambe College as a technician after a friend had recommended the College as a great place to work, she later became a Beauty Therapy tutor.
I started here at LMC in 2003, firstly as a technician and then progressing onto the role of Beauty Therapy Lecturer shortly after.
Janina teaches all levels of Beauty Therapy at LMC, inside our industry standard facilities. She provides the students with all the skills, knowledge and techniques they'll need to establish their careers in the industry.
My favourite part of the role is teaching, seeing the learners progress through the units to gain their qualifications and making it to each stage with confidence. Then eventually seeing them go off and start their careers in Beauty, some even owning their own businesses.
Each day studying Beauty Therapy is different as there are so many roles and responsibilities. The course covers all aspects of the industry allowing you to find your favourite part and potentially in the future specialise in one area. You will gain a clear understanding of what it's like to have a career in Beauty, as well as 50 hours of work experience within the industry.
With this role comes many responsiblities and activities, no two days are the same! It's the same as in industry, each day your meeting new clients and facing new challenges.
When asked what she would say to someone who was thinking of studying Beauty Therapy, Janina said:

I really enjoy being part of the LMC Beauty Team and working within the department. Watching my students grow and develop their ideas and skillsets week on week is a really exciting part of my role, particularly when I can see them challenging themselves to get creative and try out new and different ideas.
My favourite part of this role is working with such an amazing team here at Lancaster & Morecambe College, and also being able to pass on my industry knowledge to all my students and support them in their journey to becoming a Beauty Therapist.
The most satisfying part of my job role is inspiring students to have the confidence to become beauty therapists and work in their dream careers.
