Learning the art of Business and Marketing is the single most useful thing you’ll ever do in your life. Business and Marketing are a huge part of every single industry in the world. Do it!
Olivia Hammond works in the Apprenticeship Team providing teaching and guidance to learners on the Business Admin & Marketing Level 3 Apprenticeships.
Olivia began her journey with LMC seven years ago as an Admin Trainee, and after using the knowledge gained from her studies, she went on to work in a variety of roles in the business industry. She returned to Lancaster & Morecambe College (LMC) four years later as a full-time administrator, before becoming an Apprenticeship Adviser.
As an Apprenticeship Adviser, Olivia carries out regular activities with apprentices such as; training sessions on Business Admin & Marketing, introducing and teaching new Skills Development Academy sessions, and working on our Apprenticeship Induction Days. When asked what her highlight of the role is, she said:
I enjoy running the Skills Development Academy, we have some really interesting sessions, such as ‘Introduction to Cryptocurrency’ and ‘Entrepreneurship Skills’ and it’s nice to see the apprentices get so much from developing the extra skills and knowledge we cover.
Outside of working at LMC, Olivia works with The Dukes Theatre, Travellers Times and The Traveller Movement on a consultancy basis, alongside various other organisations, using the skills she has developed throughout her time at LMC as both a learner and staff member to support these ventures.
Some of her most exciting opportunities have included meeting with various Lords in Westminster’s Houses of Parliament, appearing in a segment on ITV News Granada Reports, and proofreading/co-writing an episode of ‘The Bill.’
Olivia commented:
When you push yourself in the business world, the opportunities are endless.
When asked what she would say to someone considering the Level 3 Business Admin or Marketing Apprenticeships, Olivia said:
Learning the art of Business and Marketing is the single most useful thing you’ll ever do in your life. Business and Marketing are a huge part of every single industry in the world. Do it!
Industry specific apprenticeships are a great way to learn new skills and knowledge, achieve a recognised qualification and earn a wage. Customer service is the corner stone of every successful business, and courses at LMC will help you identify, improve and introduce these skills successfully.
I enjoy being part of the team and thinking of new ways to support local businesses in realising their potential. Watching learners transition from a one-day course to gaining qualifications motivates me to continue teaching at LMC.
It’s really difficult to state just one thing I love about working at Lancaster & Morecambe College because there are so many! I really wanted to work here because the college has a fantastic reputation. I love introducing new ways of working and keeping up with relevant trends to improve the course, and I really enjoy the supportive environment that we create for our students.
Teaching is my favourite part of the role, I love being able to help people reach that lightbulb moment in class! I also enjoy being able to inspire the next generation of Residential workers.
The course gives people experiences of business in many forms which can be used in a huge variety of possible future careers – past students have gone on to work in sectors as diverse as fashion, charities, social media, nuclear energy, defence manufacturing and the public sector.
Behind every great business is a fantastic accountant! AAT qualifications are highly valued and they can really push you to achieve great things in your career. The whole team at LMC are dedicated and excited about giving you the best possible start in your new journey!
