I love to see the difference between a student starting the course and then when they leave their course. They always gain confidence thanks to their new skills and it's amazing to see them leave with their qualification knowing that I have contributed in helping them achieve it.
Vickilee started working at Lancaster & Morecambe College in October 22, as a Technical Demonstrator/Assessor, beacause she wanted to support students in the local area to achieve their dreams.
All courses at LMC are designed to get you work ready. On a Hairdressing course you will undertake industry placement in a local salon as well as working in our onsite Salon which is also open to the public. Watching a students continued progression is one of Vickilee's favourite parts of working in the Hairdressing team at College, expressing that she likes to be part of the students journey into achieving their qualifications.

She works alongside other Hairdressing tutors where she supports them and their students in class. She assists students with their work and assesments ensuring they are working to their best ability. As well as helping with theory based studies, Vickilee also demonstrates how to complete various hairdressing services such as blow dry's, hair ups, hair styling and colouring.
As part of my role, my main responsibility is assisting Hairdressing tutors in delivering their sessions. I support students with any work or assesments and I also log these assesments. Also, I demonstrate hairdressing services to students.
When asked what she would say to someone thinking about studying Hairdressing, Vickilee said:
The College and I would help you to achieve the highest standard of workplace skills as well as learning new things in the hairdressing industry. Having a hairdressing qualification can open many different doors in the industry as well as giving you the opportunity to potentially travel the world.
My favourite part of working at Lancaster & Morecambe college is watching students progress and supporting them with their learning. I also love knowing they are learning within a hairdressing environment and being able to see them develop their skills and knowledge in hairdressing.
I love working at Lancaster & Morecambe College with such an amazing team that are passionate about delivering outstanding teaching across the departments. The Apprenticeship courses at LMC are well developed programmes that offer students amazing opportunities and experiences, whilst allowing them to earn while they learn as they progress through the Apprenticeship.

I enjoy teaching this qualification a lot because all the apprentices show a real passion for the hairdressing industry. They all leave the course with the skills and knowledge to build their own client bases or set up their own businesses within the hair industry. Seeing the learners confidence grow more and more each week is my favourite part of the role.
In my role as a course tutor I’m responsible for ensuring that my students develop in many areas, and not just Hairdressing. I like to encourage my students to improve their well-being as well as support them with their personal development and learning journey, to gain the knowledge to be successful within their course to achieve the qualifications they need to progress in the industry.
